Feature: We've Finally Played Xbox's New Fable Reboot, And Here's What We Think So Far

We went hands on at the recent Xbox FanFest. This year has actually been amazing for Xbox first-party releases, with all of Forza Horizon 6, Halo: Campaign Evolved and Gears of War: E-Day knocking it out of the park in my opinion, but there's one first-party game that I've been looking forward to in particular, and that's the Playground Games reboot of Fable. So, imagine my surprise when it was declared at the Xbox FanFest in London last week that Fable was actually playable! We immediately book

Fable Has Survived A Decade Of Development Because It's Seen As 'Vital' By Xbox, Says Director

The contract was first signed for it in 2017. Over the past 10 years, we've seen a lot of great Xbox games ship on Series X and Series S (amongst other platforms) despite their long development cycles, but others have unfortunately fallen by the wayside along the way. We're talking games like Everwild and Perfect Dark — projects that clearly had a lot of potential behind them, but for whatever reason were ultimately canned by Microsoft. The same thing could have happened with Fable considering i

Fable Director Reveals Original October 2026 Release Plans, But They're 'Glad' For The Delay
