Middle-earth: Shadow of War
What critics said
WayTooManyGames75Middle-earth: Shadow of War was an amazing feat at release, and this modern publication underlines the strengths within. The action, the systems and the expansive world are all incredible, and conforms to be either a brutal breeze for relaxed players or a challenging game of strategy at higher difficulty levels. It has its faults, and I don’t personally subscribe to the degree of untamed energy, but it can be wildly fun in the moment, and Middle-earth fans deserve great games after some really rough releases.
Nindie Spotlight92Taking what worked well in Shadow of Mordor, refining it, and then adding in a load of included DLC content, this is a package with depth of play that’s hard to ignore
NintendoBoy75I feel that for every improvement over Shadow of Mordor, Shadow of War introduces a new downside. Distinct maps, yet a repetitive loop. New enemies, but a stretched-out story. I still believe it is a highly worthwhile experience—even though the narrative conclusion is, to put it mildly, a letdown—and having the *Middle-earth* duology on the Switch 2 is a fantastic gift for Nintendo fans who love Tolkien.
