Even 10 years on, Sean Murray feels like he could work on No Man's Sky "forever," even if he knows "there probably is some end date" for it
What's that? It's been 10 years since No Man's Sky launched? Oh! That's gone by a bit too quick! In that time the planet hopping survival game has changed drastically, starting life frequently derided for missing promised features, slowly morphing into what it is now. No Man's Sky Creator Shares Statement With Xbox Fans To Celebrate 10th Anniversary
"It has been a wild ride". Can you believe it's been 10 whole years since No Man's Sky first released?! We all know what happened when the sci-fi epic first launched back on August 9th of 2016 - it received a ton of negative reviews and fell victim to its own hype - but incredibly, the game has continued to add (free) new content over the past decade and has become a beloved title that countless players are still enjoying to this day. No Man’s Sky developer Hello Games celebrates 10-year anniversary
I feel surprisingly emotional today. Ten years ago, on 9th August 2016, PlayStation Travellers across the universe set foot on their first alien planet in No Man’s Sky. The first words from their exosuit rang out in their helmet: “Hazard protection active”. Perhaps you were there ten years ago, or perhaps you joined later. All […]

Sean Murray reflects on 10 years of No Man's Sky, its future, and why Hello Games' "redemption arc" narrative "isn't really the story" of the developer
When Hello Games ended its trailer for No Man's Sky's first major update with the words "This is the foundation of things to come", it's doubtful anyone, studio included, could have predicted the game would still be going strong some 10 years later. But as the exploratory space sim celebrates a decade since its original release this week, it's now stronger than ever. It's been an eventful 10 years, seeing the release of over 45 major updates, and so to mark No Man's Sky's huge milestone I chatte

Revisiting the original No Man's Sky, 10 years on - and why it was always good in its own way
"Commencing Atlas suit initialisation system", crackles a synthesised female voice from out of my TV screen. "Life support systems activated", she continues. And eventually, "User initialisation sequence complete". It's a start-up sequence I've heard countless times over the last decade, but today things are a little bit different. As No Man's Sky celebrates its 10th anniversary, I've slung myself back through a wormhole of sorts - one powered by a dusty PS4 wrenched from a box in the attic and

No Man's Sky goes to war as Swarm update brings universe-ending threat, hundred-ship space battles, and a splash of… Splatoon?
Even if you're not particularly up on your No Man's Sky lore, you'll likely have at least heard in-game mention of the World of Glass, a kind of archival afterlife linked to the exploratory sci-fi game's ill-fated simulation. And in its latest update, Swarm, something fearsome is breaking through from that other realm - so it's time to band together and fight back.

Helldivers 2-esque war against a giant evil robo-eye beckons in No Man's Sky's The Swarm update, invading the galaxy right now
It's the Death Star! Well, sort of. It's a big robo-eye invading the galaxy with a swarm of killer drones, as No Man's Sky goes a bit Helldivers 2-ish in its latest update. Dubbed The Swarm, it'll see folks filed away from their not quite Pokemon battles to join three factions who'll need to work together in ship battles to fend off a big Robo-eye with a space station-scorching laser.

No Man's Sky goes full-on Pokémon in new creature-battling update - "This is an entire multiplayer game all of its own"
With No Man's Sky's 10th anniversary hurtling ever closer, developer Hello Games has returned with another update for its sprawling exploratory space sim, and the big addition this time around is, well, it's basically Pokémon.

Pokemon battles with space cows, dinosaurs and gaseous blobs are the premise of No Man's Sky's latest update, dubbed Xeno Arena
Ooh, it hasn't got a Pokemon-style mode that lets you collect a bunch of alien critters and force them to fight to the death in a fashion that might be deemed barbaric if it wasn't so bloodless and cutesy. That would've likely been my answer if you'd asked me what ever-growing No Man's Sky doesn't have at this point before I read about its latest update. That latest update, Xeno Arena, adds in Pokemon-style alien critter collecting and battling mechanics.
