Planet Zoo 2 news

Planet Zoo 2 is a beautiful sequel and a fine management sim, but it's the animals that steal the show

If the Planet Zoo series has taught me anything it's that I'm rubbish at animals. Sure, I'm okay with the simple stuff - I do, you'll be relieved to hear, know the difference between an elephant and a flamingo - but the more exotic they get, the second we start dabbling in subspecies, the more clueless I am. That was one of the joys of the original Planet Zoo: a chance to discover a vibrant menagerie of unusual animals, all brought to wonderful life by developer Frontier's typically exquisite ar

Planet Zoo 2 Puts You Right Down into the Wild With Your Animals | IGN Preview

It wasn't realistic to get a full picture of Planet Zoo 2 from the short time I had with it in this first hands-on, especially when it comes to the business tycoon side, but I'm pretty optimistic overall. I counted 49 species in the encyclopedia, from jellyfish to giraffes, from a variety of environments and biomes. And the ones I got to see in the flesh were marvelously rendered and a joy to watch, especially when I got to release them into the open environment of a nature reserve.

Planet Zoo 2 is on the way later this year, adding in aquatic animals as a big win for mola mola lovers

Truth be told, in the leadup to the proper reveal of Planet Zoo 2, with developer Frontier Developments not so subtly teasing it, my immediate thought was, "didn't that come out already?" Apparently not! For Planet Zoo 2 has in fact now been revealed, and is yet to be released. An announcement trailer shows it off a touch, though not in any mechanical detail, and to be honest my fight or flight is being set off by the human zoo visitors in a way I don't want to sit with.

It looks like a Planet Zoo 2 reveal could be just around the corner

We already knew it was coming thanks to a brisk tease and subsequent announcement last year, but it looks like a proper Planet Zoo 2 unveiling could be imminent if an update to the series' official YouTube page is any indication.

Edwin came up the ladder to my office last week to remind me that my quarterly Maw Safety Certification was up for renewal. Without an in date health and safety and wild eldritch creature control license, I'm not allowed to remain in the Treehouse and we have to shut down the site. So, today I'm down in the Maw's chamber coaxing it to hock up some globules of games. Edwin's here, of course, though he seems pretty smug to be on the other side of the plexiglass for a change.
