Pokémon Champions Director Wants To Keep The Game's Focus On PvP

"At least while more people are increasingly playing". Although Pokémon Champions is now the main competitive title for the video game, some trainers are still apparently calling for single-player content to be added. VGC recently spoke to the game's co-director Masaaki Hoshino about these fan requests for "Pokémon Stadium-like offline modes" in the free-to-play title, but it doesn't seem like this will be happening...at least in the foreseeable future.

Pokémon Champions is off to a rough start

You first, dude. | Image: The Pokémon Company, Nintendo Like many live-service games before it, Pokémon Champions' launch has been messy. The free-to-start battle sim, which is out now on the Switch and Switch 2 (and also coming to mobile later this year), is plagued with bugs, some of which cause issues with basic battle mechanics - not great for a game that's only about battling. But bugs can be fixed, and encouragingly, some of them already have been. Champions' bigger problem is that, in t

Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Pokémon Champions

Here's what the critics think. The new "free-to-start" battle game Pokémon Champions launched for the Switch this week and critics have now had their say. Pokemon Champions Review – The Battle Frontier

Pokemon's turn-based combat can be best described as an inch wide and a mile deep. Its rock-paper-scissors style is easy to understand, but below the murky surface lies an entirely different game. Moves that may seem useless at first glance take on a different meaning in a competitive setting, where complicated stat spreads are tweaked ever-so-slightly to maximize a Pokemon's efficiency and a constantly evolving meta-game makes it hard to nail down which strategies are viable and which aren't. Review: Pokémon Champions (Switch) – The Most Accessible & Flawed Competitive Pokémon Has Ever Been

More bugs than Viridian Forest. Keeping up with competitive Pokémon battling has always been a hassle. As the mainline series shifts from generation to generation, so does which Pokémon are available, access to specific Pokémon, methods for training those Pokémon, the introduction of new moves, abilities, and held items, as well as a continued cycle of overpowered strategies and how to counter them. It’s very easy to fall behind. I myself fell behind after skipping most of the Pokémon Scarlet &

Fear Not, Pokémon Champions' Naff Switch 2 TV Resolution Is Fixable

Doctors hate this one simple Dock trick. Even if we overlook the limited launch Pokémon, the swathe of bugs, and the strange monetisation, Pokémon Champions still had more issues up its sleeve — talk about a dramatic launch, eh? Those playing in Docked Mode on Switch 2 might have noticed that the latest battler looked... a bit naff. Up on the TV, the game still doesn't hit the promised 4K resolution, with the stretched image looking all the worse as a consequence. Thankfully, there is a fix, but
