Silver Pines nails that classic survival horror game vibe, all whilst adding some impressive modern touches to exploration across its Metroidvania-style world. I had a really good time uncovering its world, solving its satisfying puzzles, and unravelling its unsettling narrative (even if it is guilty of being a bit derivative in places), whilst the gorgeous visuals really do give it a distinct sense of style. It’s just a really, really good game - horror fans have truly been spoilt lately, and Silver Pines is another release they won’t want to miss out on.

Silver Pines is a fascinating blend of classic survival horror and Metroidvania that stands out for its intriguing narrative, extraordinary art direction, and an atmosphere evocative of the genre's greatest icons. Although its gameplay leaves room for improvement and its influences occasionally wear on its sleeve, Wych Elm succeeds in crafting an experience with a distinct identity that will thoroughly delight fans of psychological horror.

Silver Pines: is an atmospheric horror adventure that combines a surreal mystery reminiscent of Twin Peaks with disturbing creatures and elements inspired by Silent Hill and Resident Evil. Exploration, cleverly designed puzzles, and a practical photography system for documenting clues are among its biggest strengths, while the lack of clear guidance can occasionally make progression frustrating. Despite a few shortcomings, it's a compelling choice for psychological horror fans who enjoy uncovering the secrets of a world where nothing is quite what it seems.

Silver Pines Is the Silent Hill Metroidvania Mash-Up I Never Knew I Needed

Lynchian noir mystery Silver Pines takes the best bits from horror, the middling bits from Metroidvanias, and the worst bits from adventure games

I want, and not even especially deep down, to like Silver Pines more than I do. Wych Elm’s debut game – a Twin Peaks-inspired, neo-noir detective mystery that quickly repaints itself in survival horror red – is endearingly unusual, an angular mishmash of different genre staples that, nonetheless, stays coherently glued together by its expressively moody visual style and an intriguing missing-person tale. It’s just... well, put it this way. I’m only about three hours in, and if I have to backtrac

Silver Pines Is Reviewing Exceptionally Well, Positioning It As One Of 2026's Best Games

Don't let this one slip under the radar! What a month it's been for gaming. Genuinely, it's only the first week of October and it's already been phenomenal, with the likes of Gears of War: E-Day, Ace Combat 8 and Star Wars: Galactic Racer all scoring very highly. And now, Silver Pines appears to be chucking its hat into the ring. Forget Game of the Year, the real contest is Game of the Opening Week in October! Read the full article on purexbox.com

Silver Pines Preview: It Plays and Looks Like If Alan Wake Were Made in the ‘90s

Silver Pines' pixelated art is surprisingly fluid and expressive, the voice acting is off-putting and eerie, and every part of the small town you find yourself in is just so ominous and filled with little hair-raising details all over. It’s utterly Lynchian stuff if I ever saw it, and we really like what we've seen so far.

Silver Pines is a rotoscoped side-scrolling survival horror game that splices Silent Hill with Flashback, and it's out on October 8th

Set in a town that's equal parts Silent Hill and Twin Peaks, Silver Pines puts you into the gumshoes of private investigator Red Walker as he tracks down missing musician Eddie Velvet. The investigation hits a slight hiccup when ravenous monsters that want to eat your flesh down to the bones start to impede your enquiries. We've known about the sidescrolling metroidvania for a while, but it's now got a Steam demo you can play and a release date you can hunger for. October 8th, the creepiest 8th
