Wreckreation is getting an unlikely sequel.
It seems we're never getting another game under the "Burnout" moniker, but we did get a spiritual successor in the form of Wreckreation a few years ago, and a surprise sequel has just been announced for the game this afternoon.
Wreckreation 2 is being created by a newly-formed studio called "When Tides Turn", staffed by members of the previous Wreckreation studio, Three Fields Entertainment. Again, we're looking at an open-world Burnout Paradise-style
